Adding Content to Your Brain (iOS)
Upload files, web pages, and documents directly from Elephas
Overview
You can add content to your Super Brain directly from inside the Elephas app by uploading files, adding web URLs, or creating notes. Once indexed, this content enables your Brain to provide accurate, grounded answers based on your own information.
This guide explains how to add and manage content from within the app itself.
Accessing the Content Tab
- Open the Elephas app
- Tap the Brain tab in the bottom navigation
- Select the Brain you want to add content to

- Tap the Content tab at the top

All your indexed content appears here, along with options to add more.
Adding Files
Supported File Types
Elephas can index the following file formats:
- Text documents: .txt, .text
- Markdown files: .md, .markdown
- PDFs: .pdf
- Images: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .heic
- Web files: .html
How to Add Files
- In the Content tab, tap the ➕ button (bottom-right)

- Select Add File

- Choose either:
- One or more individual files
- An entire folder

- Indexing begins automatically

What Happens During Indexing
Files process in the background with progress indicators. Duplicate files are skipped, and unsupported formats show errors. You can close the app while indexing continues.
Tips for Adding Files
- Select multiple files at once to save time
- Folders are scanned recursively (all subfolders included)
- Large files may take longer to process
- Check the Content tab to verify successful indexing
Adding Web URLs
How to Add a Web Page
- Tap ➕ Add in the Content tab

- Select Add Web URL

- Enter a URL (e.g., example.com or https://example.com)

- Tap Add to begin indexing
What Happens
- URLs are automatically validated and normalized (https:// added if needed)
- Elephas fetches and extracts the readable page content
- Content is indexed in the background for use in chat
- Error messages appear if the URL already exists in your Brain
Deleting Your Content
To remove content from your Brain:
- Swipe left on any file or URL in the Content list
- Tap Delete

- Confirm the deletion

Important notes:
- Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
- Content is removed from both the Brain and its search index
- You can always re-add items later if needed
- Deleting doesn't affect the original file on your device
